The Pre-Prep is a dynamic and busy department and is very much part of the Cheltenham Prep, occupying self-contained buildings at the heart of the school campus.
Staffed by specialist Early Years teachers, we are looking for somebody who believes in and works to support our aim to provide a stimulating and happy environment in which children can develop intellectually and socially to reach their potential.
For September 2026 and for a fixed period of one year, Cheltenham Prep is looking for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join the Pre – Prep. The Teaching Assistant will assist in the provision of a variety of activities whilst maintaining the care and safety of pupils in Key Stage 1.
Candidates should have experience in EYFS/KS1 and be qualified at Level 3 NVQ or higher. Teaching Assistant’s take responsibility for small-group teaching and have shared responsibility for teaching phonics alongside Pre-Prep teachers. Experience in Read Write Inc, or a similar programme would be welcome. For the right candidate, there may also be the opportunity to teach.
Candidates should have good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads. Good communication skills both oral and written are essential and SEND experience would be desirable.
College has its own pay scale and salary will depend on experience. Hours are currently full time (37.5 hours per week) term time only.
