The study of tropical flora has been a focus of Kew researchers for several decades, with well-established collaborations across a number of tropical countries. This combined research and project management role forms part of two projects funded by Rio Tinto (RT) – “Improved Forest Carbon Estimates in the Republic of Guinea” – and the Global Centre for Biodiversity and Climate (GCBC) –  “Using biodiversity to support climate resilient livelihoods in intact tropical peatlands”.

We are seeking a candidate for a role as a postdoctoral research associate, with a PhD in geography or sustainable development, to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting fieldwork and research in tropical countries, along with a proven track record in financial management and reporting. If you have project management experience, the ability to work independently, proficiency in spoken and written French, and enjoy collaborating with global research partners, this is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

This role is based at Kew with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.

The salary for this position is £39,243 - £42,154 per annum, depending on skills and experience [Band D]
