- Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Postal and Logistics Administrator on a full-time, permanent basis.Logistics ManagerReporting to:Ensuring the effective and timely movement of all mail, parcels and deliveries across Brighton College. The postholder is responsible for receiving, logging, organising and distributing items to departments, boarding houses and operational teams, ensuring accuracy, security and reliability at all times. The role also supports the Logistics Manager with operational programming, scheduling and logistics coordination.Main purpose of the role:General Duties and Responsibilities:Postal and Distribution Duties:
- Receive, check and log all incoming parcels, letters, courier items and deliveries.
- Maintain an accurate delivery logging system for tracked, valuable or secure items.
- Distribute mail and parcels to all College departments, residences and campus buildings.
- Manage outgoing post, including franking, courier arrangements and dispatch of recorded items.
- Liaise with couriers, suppliers and internal staff regarding delivery times, discrepancies or special handling requirements.
- Keep the College mailroom organised, tidy and compliant with security procedures.
- Use College vehicles to support delivery distribution (full driving licence required).
- Support preparation of daily and weekly work schedules for the Logistics teams.
- Coordinate movement of equipment, resources or furniture between buildings as required.
- Assist with planning logistics for events, termly operations and high-demand periods.
- Monitor workflow requests and support the Logistics Manager in prioritising tasks.
- Any other reasonable management request.
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:
Essential- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Experience in roles involving deliveries, logistics, post handling or similar operational environments.
- Strong organisation and time management skills.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
- Ability to lift, move and handle parcels safely (reasonable adjustments available).
- Good communication skills and positive customer-facing approach.
- Ability to work effectively across a busy, multi-site environment.
- Work calmly under pressure and be adaptable to changing priorities.
- Be discreet and respectful of confidentiality.
- Be team-focused and willing to support colleagues across Logistics and Porterage.
- Experience in a school, college or similar setting.
- Familiarity with parcel-logging software or delivery tracking systems.
- Understanding of logistics scheduling or operational programming.
Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm with a 60 minute unpaid lunch break (40 hours per week). Occasional flexibility in working hours may be required during peak operational periods. The role requires regular movement between campus buildings and may involve working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Remuneration:The salary for this role will be £30,160 per annum.
Holidays:23 days, plus bank holidays increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after 2 years of service.
