We are seeking an experienced Transformation & Change Manager to deliver a process improvement and transformation activity within our Programme Planning team with the purpose of delivering work more efficiently and effectively across the canal network. The role will drive end to end change in the way we manage our work across from Asset Management, Design, Planning and Delivery teams.
Working Hours & Travel
This role follows 37 hours, 5 days a week, work pattern.
This is a homebased role, with occasional travel to our hub spaces for collaborative meetings. You should be able to reasonably commute to one of the following hubs: Leeds, Ellesmere Port, Burnley, Newark, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Gloucester.
Role Overview
This is a new, temporary role, that will deliver process improvement and transformation:
- Organising and enabling workshops for stakeholders to gather business requirements
- Process map ‘As Is’ and analysis of the end-to-end delivery process and set out ‘To Be’ across a variety of delivery activities
- Identify process wastage and implement opportunities for streamlining and improving data quality
- Assist in the resolution and development of enabling systems and processes essential in the delivery of successful projects
- Development of a rolling 2 year programme of works with improved time and cost certainty.
- Support business process owners in transitioning to ways of working that allow standardised adoption of the new tools
- Ensuring extensive stakeholder engagement in the programme.
Key Responsibilities
While specialist boating knowledge is not required, previous PMO and transformation and change experience in delivering successful change will be essential to the role and delivery of the programme.
You’ll be delivering transformation activities that improve the end-to-end delivery of our in-house teams across multiple functions that are essential in the delivery of canal maintenance activities. The role will require excellent change management, leadership, stakeholder management and an inquisitive mind to identify and drive change across multiple workstreams and partners.
- Working with the Trust’s Head of Programme Management Office to discover, define, develop and deliver the aspired outcomes
- Working with the wider Infrastructure & Programmes Senior Management team and their broader teams to achieve the objectives
- Establish new ways of working to deliver our in-house projects as efficiently and effectively as possible
- Manage risk, schedule and provide reporting on progress.
About You
A proven, experienced and successful transformation and change agent who has delivered similar change projects in complex, multifunctional organisations. Able to traverse strategic and tactical thinking whilst able to successfully influence and shape decision making.
Skills & Qualifications
Technical:
- Proven experience in leading organisational change management across different functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
- Strong experience in delivering process and system change.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple organisational levels.
- Hands on expertise in change impact, communications and readiness assessment.
- Demonstrable support of business process owners in transitioning to ways of working that allow standardised adoption of the new tools.
- Professional certifications (Agile, PRINCE2,CCMP) and change management credentials desirable.
General:
- Strong IT skills across relevant platforms, with the ability to extract, interpret and present data effectively.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills for public-facing programmes, with compassionate understanding of the diverse groups affected by the programme.
- Strategic thinker with ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity.
