Playworker - Community Activities (Holiday Role)
Location: Langley Road & Horseshoe Lane, Watford
Hours: Minimum of 15 shifts (8:45am – 4:45pm)
Contract: Holiday work (Half term holidays, particularly 23rd July – 2nd September 2026)
Training: Compulsory training 20th & 21st July 2026
About the Role
Watford Mencap is recruiting Playworkers to support our Community Activities service during the school holiday period. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting children, young people and adults with special educational needs to access inclusive, engaging leisure activities.
You’ll work both in our fully accessible Watford hub and out in the community, helping people build confidence, skills and independence through play.

- Delivering inclusive play and leisure activities
- Providing 1:1 support, including for individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities
- Promoting choice, independence and participation in a person-centred way
- Communicating creatively to meet individual needs

Support Worker in Community Activities
Location: Central Watford
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours) or Part-time (22.5 hours)
Salary: £12.21 per hour, rising to £12.74 per hour after probation (£23,809.50 full-time equivalent)
About the Role
Join our Community Activities for Children & Adults service supporting children and young people with learning disabilities.
This is a varied role focused on promoting independence, choice and meaningful experiences.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing 1:1 support, including personal care
- Planning and delivering inclusive sessions
- Supporting individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities
- Planning meals and supporting daily routines
- Assessing new clients and updating support plans
- Acting as a role model to less experienced staff

Supported Living Personal Assistant
Location: South/West Hertfordshire
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours) and part-time available

About the Role
We are recruiting Personal Care Assistants to work in small, personalised supported living homes.
You’ll support 1–2 individuals with learning disabilities in their home to live full, independent lives.

- Preparing meals and maintaining the home

- Supporting social activities and community access

You will work shifts of a mixture of early shifts, late shifts, weekends and bank holidays and sleep-ins.
*Additionally, sleep in duties are paid at around £63 per sleep-in. A full-time salary with a sleep in duty per week is around £26,700 pa.

You’ll build meaningful relationships with regular clients and help them live life to the full.

Watford Mencap is urgently recruiting Casual Support Workers to join our Café and Day Opportunities teams.
This is a varied, hands-on role supporting adults with learning disabilities to develop independence, life skills and confidence in both our welcoming Café at Watford Central Library and our Training Kitchen and Hub at Langley Road.
You will help create an inclusive, positive environment while supporting people to learn new skills, build friendships and enjoy meaningful activities.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Supporting people with learning disabilities in a person-centred way
• Assisting trainees to learn café and kitchen skills
• Providing 1:1 support, which may include personal care and medication
• Promoting independence, choice and confidence
• Helping to maintain a welcoming, safe and high-quality environment
