Inspire Youth Tyne and Wear (Company Number 08540636) is a constituted Community Interest Company delivering high-quality, not-for-profit services to children, young people, families, and communities across Newcastle and North Tyneside.
Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and flexible Play & Youth Practitioner to join our dynamic team.
This is a hands-on role supporting the design and delivery of inclusive play and youth work sessions for young people aged 5–19, across a range of community settings.
You will work both centre-based and out in the community through detached and outreach youth work — so no two days are the same.
Pay

- £13.45 per hour– Centre-based sessions
- £17.00 per hour– Detached/outreach youth work
Additional hours are available during Easter, Summer, and Winter school holidays.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging and inclusive sessions
- Create a safe, welcoming environment for children and young people
- Promote free play, creativity, and active lifestyles
- Build positive and professional relationships with young people
- Work both independently and as part of a team
- Travel to venues and transport equipment as required
- Complete paperwork and reports accurately and on time
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and organisational policies
- Attend supervision, team meetings, and training
- Support programmes that respond to the needs of local communities
- Act as a positive role model for young people
- Support young people’s personal development and decision-making
- Represent Inspire Youth professionally with partner agencies
- Take responsibility for young people on trips, visits, and residentials
- Deliver detached/outreach youth workin parks, estates, and community spaces
Essential Criteria

- Passion for working with children and young people
- Level 2 qualification in Youth Work, Play Work, or equivalent
- Experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds
- Understanding of youth work values and safeguarding practices
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisation and time management
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
- Willingness to travel across Newcastle and North Tyneside
- Full UK Driving Licence (preferred but not essential)
