MANCHESTER HIGH SCHOOL FOR GIRLS
Manchester High School for Girls
Part-time
12th January 2026
PERIPATETIC PIANO TEACHER

(Temporary – for up to three terms)
Approximately 6 hours per week

Required from March 2026.

Manchester High School for Girls is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced, and
enthusiastic piano teacher on a self-employed, temporary basis to join our Music Department.

The successful candidate will be required to provide individual lessons on a one-to-one basis to
students in our Preparatory and Senior Schools. The students at Manchester High School for Girls
learn instruments for many reasons; some aspire to be professional musicians, whilst for others it is a
diversion from other pressures. We are primarily looking for a teacher who will instil a lifelong
enjoyment of music making, whilst maintaining the highest levels of ambition for each of their
pupils. An ability to teach all age and ability levels up to diploma level is an absolute necessity.

It is expected that the successful post holder will promote the performance of students within the
Music Department, including participation in music festivals, ABRSM examinations, as well as in our
monthly twilight concert series. The post holder will be engaged on a temporary, self-employed basis
and in the first instance, we anticipate there will be the equivalent of one day available per week. This
role is for up to three terms only.

Excellent communication, planning and delivery is essential to this role, and above all else we want to
recruit someone with a passion for teaching children and inspiring the next generation to love music.

Closing date: 9:00am on Monday 12th January 2026

Interviews: Week commencing Monday 12th or 19th January 2026

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and
expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to
child protection checks appropriate to the role including an enhanced DBS check. Registered charity
number: 1164323. Company number: 9665070.
