We are there when it matters.

About us
Sue Ryder offers a range of hospice and community nursing services in Berkshire West and South Oxfordshire, including Reading, Newbury, Wokingham, Wallingford and Henley, and many more local communities in between.

About the role
Our Therapy team consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and our Lymphoedema therapists.
We provide care to patients both in the community setting and at our Duchess of Kent Hospice in Reading. Your primary base will be Theale, but will be an expectation to travel, dependant on clinical demand.
The community Therapy teams work closely alongside our Medical and Nursing colleagues, so effective MDT working is essential.
As a Physiotherapist within the multidisciplinary team, you will provide a high-quality, person-centred service by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualised programmes of care. You will support patients to maintain mobility, function, and quality of life, using evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning within a palliative care setting.
You will work collaboratively with therapy, nursing, and wider team members, while also supporting the development of assistants, students, and junior colleagues. The role requires the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, manage risk effectively, and respond to complex clinical needs with strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Minimum Essential Criteria:
· HCPC registration and clinical experience in rehabilitation or palliative care
· Ability to tailor therapy interventions to individual needs and capabilities
· Clear communication and documentation skills
· Knowledge of accessibility, safe handling, and mobility aids

Desirable Criteria:
· Desirable experience of working in a relevant setting, which can include practice placements
·Awareness of national Palliative Care frameworks
·Experience in clinical audits and/ or service development projects
·Experience in a community Therapy team

About you
You are a qualified Physiotherapist with current HCPC registration and membership of a relevant professional body, supported by a commitment to ongoing professional development. You have strong clinical reasoning skills and are confident in applying evidence-based physiotherapy assessments and interventions to support individuals with a range of physical needs. You are able to work autonomously while also contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high standards of person-centred care.
You are organised, adaptable, and able to manage complex information and competing priorities with confidence. You demonstrate a proactive approach to risk assessment and management in relation to physical performance, alongside excellent communication and relationship-building skills. You are also willing to support the development of others, providing mentorship and guidance to junior staff, students, and assistants, and you have a good understanding of relevant legislation and its impact on current practice.
