Penny Brohn UK helps people with cancer to feel more physically and emotionally able to manage the impacts of their diagnosis and treatment, be more in control of their choices and have the best quality of life possible. By making our services freely available, our aim is for all people with cancer to be able to access the high-quality support they need.
The roleThe main purpose of the role is to coordinate and deliver the day-to-day physical activity (PA) services of the charity, ensuring high-quality, safe and accessible support for people affected by cancer. Under the clinical guidance of the Physical Activity Lead the PA Coordinator will undertake operational delivery of PA sessions, manage the scheduling and volunteer/associate coordination and ensure the smooth running of PA elements across group programmes, Cancer Support Days and Residentials.
Main duties will include:
- Delivery of group-based physical activity sessions online and/or in person as part of Wellbeing Days, Cancer Support Days and Residential Retreats.
- Manage day-to-day communication with the PA Associates and volunteers including planning, updates and practical support.
- Support the delivery of PA elements across the broader services programme, adapting content for accessibility and client needs.
- Maintain documentation relating to the service, including attendance records, client notes, risk assessments and incident logs.
To undertake this role, candidates should have experience in delivering cancer-related physical support both in person and via online platforms including Zoom. They should have an understanding of cancer pathology and common medical treatments and the implications for physical activity interventions. All candidates must hold a minimum level 4 diploma for physical therapy training as well as a qualification for delivering exercise support to people with cancer.
