Part-Time Personal Assistant (Male)

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 15-year-old boy living in Llantwit Fardre with my mum, stepdad and our friendly family dog. I enjoy a range of activities, particularly anything involving cars and motorbikes.

I love attending car shows and have photographic memory for vehicle registration numbers. In my free time, I also enjoy bowling, gaming and visiting arcades, especially to play racing games.

I am a Cardiff City supporter and occasionally attend matches with my gran.

I have a diagnosis of autism and can sometimes experience challenges with my behaviour and social interactions.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

I require support out in the community to help me develop appropriate social skills, understand social boundaries and build my confidence in interacting positively with others. A patient, understanding and supportive Personal Assistant will help me access activities I enjoy while encouraging my independence and personal development.

RATE(S) OF PAY

 

£14.85 per hour plus mileage allowance

 

HOURS OF WORK

 

6 hours per week during term-time

12 hours per week during school holidays

(4 hours on a Saturday, 2 hours on a Sunday)

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

  • Going out to watch a film.
  • Having a game of bowling.
  • To go for a game of laser tag.
  • Go karting activities.
  • Prompting with drinking, eating and hand washing.
  • Maybe grab a McDonalds/ burger king

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

 

  • Someone who is non-judgemental and open minded.
  • An outgoing and fun personality who takes part in activities.
  • Someone who listens to what I would like to do.
  • A person who can be calm, patient and can encourage positive social boundaries.
  • A person who is aware of my behavioural changes and to teach appropriate behaviour when I am in social settings.

ABOUT THE JOB

This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.

All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.

Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.

Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.

This position is advertised as 'Male only' as an occupational requirement under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
