A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I’m a 28-year-old woman living in Aberdare. I have a learning disability and anxiety. I am able however, to live on my own but have regular support from my father who lives nearby.
I volunteer 3 days a week ay a local community drop-in centre. I love football – I’m a Cardiff City supporter and watch almost all the games at the stadium. My dad takes me to the games, so my PA won’t have to support with this. I really enjoy spending time on my own – I’m not a ‘shopping, fashion, or make-up’ type of girl. I would like to get more involved in activities like aqua aerobics and dance class.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
You will support me on my independence journey.
HOURS OF WORK
5 hours per week, to be used flexibly
RATES OF PAY
£15.50 per hour
40p mileage when you use your car
TASKS WILL INCLUDE
- Support with food shopping, focusing on buying healthy nutritious food to prepare at home
- Assisting me with healthy meal prep so that I don’t rely on take-aways
- You must be able to cook and know your way around a kitchen
- General assistance around the house – light housework
- Support and reassurance with mental well-being – helping me overcome anxiety inducing obstacles
- Helping me identify and access activities in my area like aqua aerobics, cinema, discos, day trips, dance class – participating where appropriate
- Encourage me to further develop healthy living skills – eating well, exercising etc
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
- Good and confident communication skills
- Someone with similar interests so you can participate in some/most of the activities I’m interested in
- You’ll be able to lead and initiate conversations, actively keeping me engaged
- You must understand it will take me some time to trust you and build a relationship – please be patient whilst this happens
- Be able to give reassurance and guidance when needed
- A sensible and mature person with life experience
- A car owner/driver who is willing to use car for work purposes/take me on outings
