A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 18-year-old boy living in the Barry area with my family. I have Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy. This is a degenerative condition. I use a wheelchair and I need to be hoisted for transfers.
My mum describes me as a cheeky chappy and ‘one of the boys’. I enjoy
PlayStation and remote-control cars.
PURPOSE OF JOB
I am looking to employ a Personal Assistant who will provide respite for my mum so she can go out and have a break from her caring role.
HOURS OF WORK
4 hours per week
Day and time can be flexible from one week to the next
RATES OF PAY
£16.50 per hour
TASKS INVOLVED
- The job is a mixture of staying home with me when my mum goes out or maybe going out socially – it can vary week to week
- Provide safe care and supervision whilst we are together
- Become consistent and familiar to meet my complex needs
- Personal Care support as and when required
- Going out to the nearby pub
- Joining in on PlayStation or playing with remote control cars
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
- Reliable and punctual
- Patient, calm and understanding
- Take an interest in our time together, participating in activities
- Flexibility is an important aspect of this job
- Willing to drive a mobility car – you’ll be put on the insurance
ABOUT THE JOB
This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.
All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.
Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.
Wages will be paid on a four-weekly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
