We are looking for a kind, reliable Personal Assistant to support an older couple living with dementia in their daughter’s family home in Whitekirk, East Lothian.
About the Role
This is a morning support role, helping the couple start their day comfortably and maintain their usual routines. Support includes personal care, medication prompts, companionship, and gentle assistance with daily activities.
The gentleman is living with advanced Alzheimer’s disease and requires reassurance and support throughout his routine. His wife has Lewy Body Dementia. Both remain mobile.
Main Duties
- Assisting with morning routines
- Supporting with washing, dressing, and personal care (for the gentleman)
- Prompting medication
- Providing reassurance and encouraging independence where possible
- Supporting established family routines
Hours & Pay
- 2 hours each morning, 5 days per week
- Start time around 9:30am
- Days can be agreed flexibly
- Additional ad hoc hours may be available to provide respite cover for family carers.
- £15.50 per hour
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Kind, patient, and dependable
- Comfortable providing personal care
- Able to work independently within a family home
- Experienced in supporting older people and/or people living with dementia (preferred)
- A driver with access to a vehicle
- Comfortable around dogs (the family has two)
