Person in Charge/Manager

The setting:
Cilfan@Cornist is a brand new Childcare setting, situated on the Cornist Park Community Primary School site. The provision will provide Wrap Around care, Flying Start and Early Entitlement. Cilfan@Cornist will focus on child led learning with a Reggio-style philosophy that develops children's creativity. This philosophy will support children's transition into full time school at Cornist Park CP.

The role:
The trustees would like to appoint a suitably experienced member of staff (qualified at Level 3) to undertake the role of Person in Charge. The person in charge will have responsibility for managing the provision and developing the philosophy outlined above.

The Contract:
The role start date is dependent on the completion of the building work. The role would likely commence in June 2026. The role will be term time initially, with potential for school holiday care in the near future.

Salary: Between £14.00 - £17.00 an hour dependent on experience and qualifications

Essential Criteria

1. The understanding of a Reggio-style learning environment, where active, creative learning is at the heart of every day
2. The ability to lead others by modelling best practice
3. Have an awareness of the 5 Creative Habits of Mind and how they are integral in preparing children for life in education and beyond
4. A willingness to lead a positive working environment, where challenges are faced with enthusiasm
5. Have an in-depth knowledge of child development
6. Take a trauma informed approach to interactions with children
7. Experience of successfully working with the youngest of children
8. The willingness to work very closely with the Nursery staff at Cornist Park CP to ensure a consistency in practice and transition
9. The ability to develop a kind and caring culture and environment for children, staff and families
10. Be able to communicate with clarity and kindness with a wide variety of stakeholders

Qualifications
To apply for this role you must hold Level 3 in Childcare Learning Play and Development or equivalent and on the Social Care Wales list and be willing to sign up and complete the Level 4/5 in Leadership and Management in Childcare upon commencement of the role

Full time and permanent. Weekly hours to be discussed as part of the interview process.
