We are passionate about delivering high-quality early years provision and are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and motivated Person in Charge to lead our team of childcare practitioners.
The Role
As the Person in Charge, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and operation of the setting. You will lead and inspire the team, ensure full compliance with regulatory standards, and create an environment where children receive exceptional care and learning experiences.
Salary: £33,000 per annum
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operation of the clwb.
- Lead, support, and motivate the staff team.
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and safeguarding of all children.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Plan and deliver high-quality early years programmes and activities.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and external agencies.
- Manage staff supervision, induction, training, and performance reviews.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Promote an inclusive, welcoming environment for all children and families.
- Drive continuous improvement and best practice within the setting.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Early Childhood Care and Education (minimum Level 5)
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role within an early years setting
- Strong knowledge of child development and early years frameworks
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
- Ability to work collaboratively and lead by example
- Eligibility to work in the UK
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Management or leadership qualification
- Experience preparing for inspections and quality assurance processes
- Valid First Aid certification
- Safeguarding Lead experience
- Experience supporting children with additional needs

This role is part of a two-person leadership structure responsible for covering our core operating hours of 07:30–18:15, Monday to Friday.
You will work shifts* scheduled across these hours. The two postholders will work staggered (opposite) shift patterns to ensure consistent leadership presence throughout the day.
*Shifts are planned in advance and designed to provide a fair and balanced working pattern across the team.
