Peripatetic Piano Teacher, Prior Park College, Bath

Permanent - September start

Prior Park College, overlooking beautiful Bath is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and passionate peripatetic Teacher of Piano to join our team with specialism in traditional/classical Piano performance and able to teach contemporary piano styles such as Pop, Jazz.

Anticipated hours are around 10 hours per week, though this is subject to take up in September.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of talented and experienced teachers (alongside 2 other peripatetic piano teachers) with expertise in classical, jazz and popular music to become a leading creative force in a thriving, dynamic department. Music enjoys a high profile at Prior Park and an impressive record of achievement. Recent events have included a festival of the piano, including a masterclass and recital from Joseph Tong. Other piano masterclasses have included Jason Rebello. The department has a reputation as a centre for preparing specialist soloists, with students participating in the finals of both Bristol and Bath Young Musician of the Year 2025,2026. Senior Chapel Choir perform internationally with tours to Barcelona, Florence and Pisa. We have established ongoing links with Oxbridge choirs and conservatoires in the UK and US.

The department comprises of a Director of Music, 2 Teachers of Music, 20 visiting Music teachers and a Music Office Manager.

Music is housed in a purpose built facility in the Georgian mansion with dedicated classrooms, individual teaching rooms and a recording studio. Performance venues include the magnificently restored John Wood Chapel, with its Fazioli 212 grand piano and Garlick harpsichord, the spacious acoustic of the splendid College Chapel with its Copley pipe organ, and the well-equipped Slade Theatre.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role supported by relevant qualifications to deliver inspiring music provision to students across the age range and will be a confident performer with a passion for putting students’ musical experiences first.

Working on a PAYE basis, paying £36.61 per hour.

The school is a thriving community operating in Ralph Allen Drive, Bath.
