Job Description: Perinatal Peer Support Group Facilitator
Hours of Work: 28 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term for 12 months. Continuation subject to funding
Salary: NJC scale 5-6, currently £25,583 - £25,989 pro rata (starting salary £25,583 pro rata)
Base: Rycroft Hall, Audenshaw and working in the community across Tameside
Reporting To: Family Support Manager
Purposes of the job
The Perinatal Peer Support Group facilitator supports the development and facilitation of a network of
perinatal peer support groups across Tameside that support the wellbeing of parents and children
aged 0-2. Working in partnership with other VCSE groups and with Parent Infant Mental Health and
Early Years services, the group facilitator is responsible for recruiting and working alongside volunteers
with lived experience, setting up peer support groups and for helping groups to form close working
relationships with health colleagues.
The post holder helps provide good safeguarding practice and ensures that families receive the
highest quality of timely support. As you will be supporting families across Tameside, you will need
your own transport and to be able to travel to these areas. There will also be the occasional
requirement to travel to locations within the boroughs we cover.
Main Responsibilities
• Setting up and facilitating new and existing in-person peer support groups
• Working closely with Parent Infant Mental Health services, Maternity services and Health
Visiting teams
• Lead the development of consistent branding of HOST’s perinatal peer support group offer
• Provide support to HOST’s other group workers
• Supporting the development of referral pathways between services and groups
• Provide 1:1 support including home visits to parents as necessary to make introductions and
encourage group attendance
• Apply effective and timely administration, review and monitoring of service delivery, including
self-managing and applying relevant record keeping systems and data entry
• Promote all groups using social media as appropriate
• Work closely with HOST’s PIMH Co-ordinators and Family Support Workers to ensure an
effective range of support for families
• Promote HOST externally by ensuring appropriate liaison, networking and communication with
referrers, professionals, community leaders and organizations
• Undertake any other duties that may be required to discharge the role and support the
organisation
