Job description
Are you passionate about hip hop? If you have experience educating community groups, crews, companies and have an interest to develop your practice within further education, this is the role for you.
Are you passionate about hip hop culture and committed to inspiring the next generation of artists?
Academy Breakin’ Convention (ABC) is seeking an experienced Performing Arts Facilitator with a Hip Hop Specialism to join our pioneering Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled practitioner in an educational setting who is passionate about mentoring young people and sharing their knowledge of hip hop culture, history, and artistic practice.
Academy Breakin’ Convention (ABC) is the UK’s first Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performance and Production Arts focused on Hip Hop Theatre. The course is for 16-19 years (up to 25 years with an Education Health Care Plan) and is one of the major initiatives at our venue, Sadler’s Wells East, in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in Stratford.
We’re looking for an experienced hip hop professional with a specialism in Hip Hop to join our team. We want you to share your love and knowledge of hip hop culture across dance, music and visual art and recent experience of the creative industries. Join us and be part of something groundbreaking as our new cohort begins in September 2026, continuing our journey of creativity, excellence, opportunity, and building a strong hip hop community.
The Performing Arts Facilitator (Hip Hop Specialist) should have a proven track record of working within the creative industries and with young people aged 16–24. Working alongside the Head of the Academy, the Course Leader, and the wider teaching team, the Performing Arts Facilitator will support learners in successfully completing the UAL Level 3 qualification through the co-creation and delivery of engaging lessons that prepare the next generation of leaders for careers in the creative industries. They will also be part of a learner-centred team where pastoral care, wellbeing, and student support are at the forefront of practice.
We’re particularly keen on working with creatives who have an interest in addressing the barriers around accessing the arts and how we may create theatre and events which have inclusion, community and equity at its core. You will work in a dynamic and creative environment, where you can make a positive impact on the lives and careers of emerging talent. If this sounds like you, please apply today!
Please note: You must hold the right to work in the UK.
Location: This position requires onsite in person working at Sadler’s Wells East, and Sadler’s Wells in Angel, Islington for events such as Breakin’ Convention Festival.
Be part of a trailblazing programme delivering the UK’s first Level 3 hip hop theatre course in East London!
