| Lifeline Projects is working in partnership with NELFT, as we recognise the important role that community-based peer support plays in improving mental health and wellbeing outcomes.
The Peer Support Worker will be a fully integrated member of the Mental Health & Wellbeing Team, working alongside a multidisciplinary team to support individuals experiencing common and severe mental health difficulties. Using their own lived experience of mental health recovery, the Peer Support Worker will provide hope, encouragement and practical support to enable people to identify their strengths, achieve personal goals, and live meaningful and independent lives. The role is based on mutuality, recognising the value of shared experience and working alongside people as equals in their recovery journey. The postholder will work with individuals and groups to reduce social isolation, improve wellbeing, and increase access to culturally appropriate community resources. A particular focus will be on engaging and supporting underrepresented communities within the local area, including South Asian women and members of the Jewish community, while ensuring services remain inclusive and accessible to all. The successful candidate will have lived experience of mental health recovery and an understanding of the barriers faced by communities experiencing inequalities, such as cultural stigma, racism, migration and resettlement, housing insecurity or substance misuse. They will use this experience appropriately to build trust, challenge stigma, and empower others. Peer Support Workers must be in a sustained stage of their own recovery, demonstrate effective self-management of their wellbeing, and be able to share their lived experience safely and professionally. It would also be ideal if you living in the Redbridge community. |
