Payroll & Banking Customer Care Administrator
Salary: £19.656 per anum
Hours: 30 hours per week
Type of contract: Permanent
Location: Office based, Worthing, West Sussex
Reporting to: Senior Banking & Payroll Officer

Join us at Independent Lives as a Payroll & Banking Customer Care Administrator and help make a real difference in the lives of people who employ their own personal assistants using Direct Payments.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a balance of customer service, administration, and problem‑solving — all while being part of a friendly, supportive team.
Role Overview
In this role, you’ll be the first point of contact for payroll and banking enquiries, offering clear guidance and reassurance to customers. You’ll support people to submit their hours, understand payroll processes, and resolve everyday queries. Alongside this, you’ll manage banking tasks such as reconciling statements, keeping records up to date, and processing payroll information, including payslips and HMRC submissions. Your work will help ensure customers receive a smooth, reliable service.
What We’re Looking For:
Skills & Experience
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong administrative experience and confidence working with documents and data.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
- The ability to manage a busy, varied workload with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience in payroll or financial administration (desirable but not essential).
- An understanding of HMRC requirements (desirable).

Salary: Voluntary role - reasonable expenses claimable
Hours: Around one day a week

Location: Office in Worthing or the community, based on needs and preference
Reporting to: Direct Payments Team

Help people build confidence, independence and a stronger voice.
Do you want to support disabled people and carers to feel empowered and informed? Become an Empowerment Volunteer at Independent Lives and make a meaningful difference in someone’s day.
Role Overview:
As an Empowerment Volunteer, you will:
- Help customers understand what support is available and how to access it.
- Assist with workshops and activities that promote independence and self‑advocacy.
- Share success stories and feedback that help improve our services.

Role Overview:
As an Engagement Volunteer, you will:
- Speak with customers to gather feedback about their experiences.
- Help review information and ensure customer records are clear and accessible.
- Support the team in improving how our services are delivered and communicated.
What We’re Looking For:
- Friendly, patient communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- An interest in helping people feel heard and supported.
