Payroll Assistant (Part Time)

- Temp role with potential to move to Permanent

- 21 hours per weekto fit around core working hours and childcare where necessary.

- £26,269.74 per annum / pro rata

- Location - office based or remote depending on location (various offices across the UK and head office in London).

The Children’s Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We deliver essential local services that provide safe, trusted support to children and young people during times of significant need.

This role sits within our People Culture and Transformation Group.

A key part of this role will be your ability to to work on own initiative, supporting with the monthly payroll process. Providing high quality customer service to all internal stakeholders and supporting staff engagement by helping to ensure that TCS is paying employees in line with contractual and policy requirements and all related statutory payroll legislation whilst ensuring continuous improvement for the customer experience.

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

The required skills and competencies for this role are

  • Supporting the full end to end in house payroll function. Completing input, calculations, key checks and occasionally covering for the Payroll Lead by cut off to ensure team TCS is paid accurately and on time in line with all pay related legislation
  • Supporting compliance aligned with HMRC guidelines, including calculating remuneration packages, complex tax arrangements and ensuring accurate reporting to avoid penalties.
  • Supporting internal and external audit requests and reporting.
  • Providing support as required to the People Services team, working collaboratively to ensure smooth delivery of HR and Payroll services to TCS.

It would also be an advantage if you have any of the following skills and competencies

  • Have proven payroll experience in order to be able to fulfil the requirements of the role
  • Have knowledge of statutory and payroll legislation
  • Have attention to detail with a focus on legislative compliance
  • Work on own initiative at all times
  • Have a pro-active and collaborative approach in providing specialist payroll advice to teams and managers
