We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, positive and committed Pastoral Support Assistant to join our highly regarded pastoral support team within the school. This is a great opportunity to join a highly successful school as part of a friendly and very hardworking department.

  • The Pastoral Support team has responsibility primarily for supporting the Assistant Headteachers and Heads of Year to achieve high-quality pastoral care of students, enabling students to achieve the highest standards of learning, ensuring they are successful, confident and happy.
  • To triage pastoral concerns under the guidance of the Assistant Headteachers and indicate appropriate pathways for students.
  • To act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) within the school.
  • To refer cases to DSL, other DDSL, Heads of Year or Form Tutors as appropriate.
  • To act as the main point of contact for students at Student Services, in addition to supporting at key times in the day such as break times.
  • To ensure that students follow the school's high expectations, both in and out of the classroom.
  • To contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the well-being and personal care of children and young people with regard to the area child protection procedures.
  • To act as first aider on site.

The successful candidate will work with our well-established pastoral team and will be responsible for supporting the Heads of Year to achieve high-quality pastoral care of students, enabling students to achieve the highest standards of learning and ensuring that the students are successful, confident and happy. They will also offer medical support, act as DDSL within the school and provide administrative support in meeting the welfare and pastoral needs of students. They will need excellent time management, strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to prioritise duties; they will also need to work on their own initiative while working as part of a wider team.

This role will be predominantly based at our site in Sevenoaks, but you will be expected to travel to our Tunbridge Wells campus.

We are currently  undergoing a period of transformational change benefiting from a multi-million pound investment in Tunbridge Wells and a brand new building at our Sevenoaks campus, which opened in September 2021.  Since September 2025  Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys  has become one of the largest boys' grammar schools in the country.
