JOB DESCRIPTION

Part-Time Teacher of Music

General

•  To support the aims, values and ethos of the School and to contribute to the implementation of the

School’s Mission Statement.

•  To support the aims and objectives of the Music Department and to meet objectives which lead to

the achievement of those aims.

•  To  make  a  meaningful  contribution  to  the  School’s  and  the  Music  Department’s  co-curricular

programme.

•  To be accountable to the Headmistress and to perform such duties as she may reasonably direct,

including some duties out of school hours.

Key Responsibilities

•  To maintain high levels of achievement and enjoyment of Music across all Year Groups.
•  To support and encourage pupils to reach their full potential in Music.
•  To actively monitor pupil progress and to complete regular assessments.
•  Accompany choirs, ensembles and individual pupils on the piano.
•  Contribute to, and help to develop, the co-curricular programme offered by the Music Department.
•
•  Assist with the arrangements, and the preparation of pupils, for ABRSM examinations.
•  Maintain the popular status of Music in the School.

Participate and help to organise concerts and performances both in school and elsewhere.

Other Responsibilities

•

Play an active role in the life of the School.
Perform supervisory duties including invigilation, supervising pupils at breaks and covering for absent
colleagues.

•  Attend school events including: Assemblies, Masses, parents’ evenings, school INSETS, staff meetings

and staff briefings.

•  Help to continue to develop links with local schools and the community.
•  To attend after school/evening rehearsals and concerts, as appropriate
•  Keep up-to-date with Health and Safety requirements and ensure they are put into practice.

Pastoral Responsibilities

•  To act as a Form Tutor and to carry out the duties associated with the role.
•  To contribute to, and occasionally lead the delivery of PSHEE, ssemblies and whole school events.
