The List is hiring a Part-Time Publishing Assistant to support their arts and culture magazine during the Festival season.

About The List:
The List is Scotland’s leading arts and culture magazine, dedicated to providing comprehensive coverage of cultural events, festivals and the vibrant arts scene in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, and occasionally further afield since 1985.

Position Overview:
The List is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Part-Time Publishing Assistant to join their dynamic team. This role is ideal for third- or fourth-year university students pursuing a degree in journalism or a related field, offering a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in magazine publishing. The successful candidate will support their editorial team in various capacities, contributing to the creation and dissemination of high-quality arts and culture content. As this is an entry-level position, they will provide training on all key responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • A passion for arts and culture, particularly within Scotland.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and basic image editing software is a plus but not required.
  • Prior experience in a similar role or with a student publication is a plus but not required.
  • Professional experience with social media is a plus but not required.

Contract: fixed-term, part-time (1 July – 31 August)

Location: This role is based at The List’s Edinburgh office and requires in-office work each week. You must be available to work three days per week from Wednesday 1 July and then four days from Monday 3 to Monday 31 August.

Pay rate: £13 per hour.
