Through our sector leading services, we offer friendship to the isolated and lonely, sheltered housing for those who want to remain proudly independent and childcare to serving personnel on RAF stations. About the role

Rothbury House is a beautiful Victorian building situated at the west end of Rothbury, overlooking the Coquet Valley in Northumberland. We provide 24 high quality retirement apartments and 10 one- and two-bedroom self-contained flats for RAF veterans and their spouses. With an estimated 40% of veterans living alone, we know that isolation and loneliness is a huge problem. Rothbury House offers an opportunity for our tenants to relive the camaraderie of their time in the RAF as well as supporting and promoting their independent living.

Our Chefs prepare, cook and present meals and refreshments that provide a balanced and wholesome diet to meet the varying nutritional requirements and preferences of our tenants and visitors. Working as part of a small and committed team, you will have responsibilities which include understanding and implementing all legislation and guidelines relating to Food Standards Agency, ‘Safer Food, Better Business’ and HACCP documentation (to be tested at interview) A full role profile is available to download on our website www.rafa.org.uk

About you

You will have a minimum of one years’ experience working in a catering environment involving preparation, cooking and presentation of high quality meals. An extensive and up to date knowledge of food hygiene procedures, record keeping, temperature recording etc is essential for this role along with an up to date Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certificate (Level 3 qualification is highly desirable). You will be fully conversant with responsibilities held under the HASAW act as well as an understanding of nutritional requirements for people with medical conditions.
