Pendennis GOOD NEWS CHURCH
Pendennis is a friendly and active family. We seek to love God and others because God in Christ has first loved us. We want to revel in the good news of Jesus, allowing it to overflow in words and actions to each other and those around us who do not know him. We are situated in Staple Hill, a northern suburb of Bristol and the poorest ward in South Gloucestershire.
We are looking for someone with a passion to introduce people outside of the church to Jesus Christ and to encourage others in this privilege and responsibility.
The role will involve creative ways of engaging with people of all ages from our local community. This may well include being part our current activities held within the church building or introducing new ones, but we are particularly looking for someone to be active in meeting people on 'their turf'. This could be (but not limited to) on the local high street, getting involved with a community group/charity, volunteering in a school or doing door to door work. You will lead and encourage others in the church by your example and encourage training in evangelism.
The church family will work and pray with you. You will receive regular mentoring from the Pastor and a training package tailored to your needs (to be be discussed further during an interview.)
Depending on training needs/preference the role will be based on 24-32 hours per week employment. This will allow time for other part time employment providing further opportunities for witness and for you to remain aware of what others experience in the work place.
Required Skills
Whilst we are not looking for the finished product (who of us are!), we are seeking someone who has an infectious love for Christ and some experience of actively sharing Him with others. You may have done Beach Missions or been involved in cross cultural mission to some degree. Maybe you've been a UCCF relay worker or served in evangelism with another church.
Your heart for evangelism will need to be accompanied by a readiness to explore, learn and grow, taking others with you on the journey. You will need to be both independent and proactive but also an encourager and team player, open to input from the leadership of the church.
You will need to have a clear DBS record and have the right to work in the UK.
Please send your CV and a covering letter explaining both your experience and why you are applying for the role to the Pastor, Paul Donovan at pauld@pendennisgoodnews.com
