Operations Manager for Littleham, Lympstone and Holy Trinity Mission Community

Salary £18per hour

Closing date for applications: 5:00pm on 17th August 2026

Interview date: Thursday 20 August 2026, afternoon

Hours: Part-time, 16 hours per week (52 weeks per year)

The Littleham, Lympstone & Holy Trinity Mission Community is seeking a highly capable, proactive, and discreet Part-Time Operations Manager to support the effective running of our churches and ensure that our governance, compliance, administration, and project management are delivered with excellence.

This is a strategic and varied role at the heart of parish life—ideal for someone who thrives on responsibility, values professional standards, and wants to contribute meaningfully to the flourishing of the local church.

About the Role

The Operations Manager will work closely with the Rector to ensure that the Mission Community’s legal, pastoral, missional, and organisational responsibilities are fulfilled. You will oversee and support key operational areas including:

  • HR administration and volunteer coordination
  • Safeguarding and GDPR compliance
  • Governance, legal duties, and PCC documentation
  • Project and capital works management
  • Grant funding applications and reporting
  • Health & Safety oversight
  • Training coordination
  • Internal communications and community relations

Your work will enable the Rector to focus on spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and mission, while ensuring that our churches operate safely, legally, and effectively.

Who We’re Looking For

While desirable, this is not a role requiring the postholder to be a Christian. However, as the position supports the statutory, pastoral, and missional work of the Church of England, the successful candidate must be able to work in sympathy and in consistency with the aims and values of the Church of England and the Littleham-cum-Exmouth with Lympstone Mission Community. Further they must not act in any way that would undermine its leadership, ministry, or public witness.

We are seeking someone with:

  • A strong sense of support for, and commitment to, the Church of England and the work that it is doing through local parishes
  • A proven track record in managing compliance, budgets, projects, or people
  • Experience in HR administration, governance, or organisational management
  • An understanding of Church of England structures and parish life
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, GDPR, and Health & Safety requirements
  • A basic understanding of the English Legal System, with some experience with, or understanding of, contract law, employment law, and health and safety law
  • Excellent organisational, digital, and interpersonal skills
  • Integrity, discretion, and sound judgement
  • Initiative, adaptability, and a calm, solution-focused approach
  • Experience in church, charity, or public-sector settings—and familiarity with faculty processes or capital works—would be an advantage.

Working Arrangements

  • 16 hours per week across two days
  • At least one day per week on site in Exmouth
  • One day may be worked remotely with agreement from the Rector
  • Occasional evening or weekend commitments for meetings or events (with notice)

How to Apply

Please submit:

  • Your CV
  • A covering letter outlining your suitability for the role
  • Contact details for two referees (must not be related)

Applications should be sent by post or email to:
