Casting Call: Non Dancing Actors for English National Ballet’s Romeo & Juliet (2026-2027 Tour)

English National Ballet is seeking

non‑dancing actorsto join the company for the 2026–2027 tour of Rudolf Nureyev’sRomeo & Juliet. These roles form part of the on‑stage community that supports the narrative world of the production.

About Romeo & Juliet

English National Ballet revives Rudolf Nureyev’s acclaimed interpretation of Shakespeare’s tragedy. Set in Renaissance Verona, the production brings to life the conflict between the Montagues and Capulets and the intensity of the young lovers’ story. Prokofiev’s score is performed live by the ENB Philharmonic.

Role Requirements

These are

nondancing, physical acting rolesthat support the dramatic world of the production. We are looking for individuals to play the parts of both male and female roles.

There is a requirement for performers in the role of

bearerto be able to:

• Lift 30kg above shoulder height
• Push and pull heavy loads as required by the production

There is a requirement for all performers to be able to:

• Demonstrate basic stagecraft skills
• Run safely and repeatedly as part of staged action
• Demonstrate sufficient musicality to work confidently within a ballet production environment

Applicants must be comfortable working in a highly physical environment and collaborating closely with dancers, stage management, and the wider Artistic, Production and Technical teams.

Rehearsals (London)

• Week commencing 5 October 2026 - Please note that actors will not be required for the full week, specific dates will be communicated after auditions
• Week commencing 12 October 2026 (this week will also include performance dates). Specific locations below:
  • 12th October – Mulryan Centre for Dance, London
  • 13th October – Liverpool
  • 14th October – Liverpool
• Additionally rehearsals as noted below;
  • 20th October – Manchester
  • 13th January – London Coliseum

Performance Dates

• Liverpool Empire Theatre:15–17 October 2026
• Manchester Palace Theatre:21–25 October 2026
• Mayflower Theatre, Southampton:3–5 December 2026
• London Coliseum:January 2027 run (14–24 January 2027)

Please note that for UK tour dates to Liverpool, Manchester and Southampton, travel, accommodation, and per diems will be covered by English National Ballet. For the performance week at the London Coliseum, and the rehearsal week, this will be a weekly fee only.
