Vacancy: Night Shift Assistant

Pay: £14.32 per hour

Job Description:

We are currently looking for a Night Shift Assistant to join our team. Shift pattern will be 12 hours, from 18:45 till 06:45 on a two- week rota. Reporting to the Night Manager and Maintenance department, main duties will include but not limited to assisting the Night manager in his roles and responsibilities, including cover for the Duty Manager role in the event of Night Manager’s holiday and sickness.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to guests or clients, addressing any inquiries or concerns promptly and professionally and assisting with check-in/check-out as required.

Emergency Handling: Respond to emergencies, such as medical incidents, fire alarms, or security breaches, and coordinate with relevant authorities as needed.

Reporting: Prepare and submit reports detailing incidents, maintenance issues, or other significant events.

Routine Cleaning: Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitising surfaces to maintain a high standard of cleanliness. Ensure work rooms and corridors are prepared for the following day, clean and vacuum when required, setting up lecture rooms as per tutor’s instructions.

Deep Cleaning: Conduct deep cleaning of specific areas as scheduled, such as rest rooms, kitchens, and high-traffic zones.

Waste Management: Collect and dispose of waste and recycling materials appropriately.

• Supply Management: Restock cleaning supplies and report any shortages or maintenance issues.

Health and Safety: Follow health and safety regulations, ensuring appropriate cleaning agents and equipment use.

Premises Monitoring: Monitor the premises with regular patrols to ensure there are no safety issues, prevent theft, vandalism, and other security breaches.

Ensure doors and windows are secure and monitored throughout the night.

Monitoring of CCTV system.

Deal with late deliveries.

Incident Response: Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, taking appropriate action to resolve issues and ensure the College and its occupants’ safety.

Record and update night manager’s report logbook in line with policies and procedures.

• Access Control: Manage access to the College, ensuring only authorised personnel and visitors are allowed entry.

• Documentation: Maintain a detailed log of all security activities and incidents, including time, location, and nature of the event.

Safety Protocols: Implement and enforce safety protocols, conducting regular checks to ensure compliance with security standards.

Cover Duty Manager role in the event of Night Manager’s holiday and sickness.

Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to multi task effectively.

• Independence: Ability to work as a team and independently, making sound decisions under pressure.

Physical Stamina: Physical stamina to perform cleaning and security duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Knowledge: Basic knowledge of security protocols, cleaning procedures, and health and safety regulations is preferred.
