Purpose of the Role The University of Portsmouth Netball Club comprises 4 teams who compete in the BUCS (British University & Colleges Sport) leagues. The 1st team will be in the South Eastern Tier 1 league for the 2026/27 season, the 2nd and 3rd team in Tier 2, and the 4th team in Tier 4. The club requires coaches to lead on the training and fixtures of all competitive teams for the upcoming season, with one coach focusing on the 1st and 2nd teams, and another on the 3rd and 4th teams. The successful candidates will be available to deliver regular training sessions from September - April, and attend fixtures when scheduled throughout the season. The club are looking for experienced and qualified coaches who can drive a performance culture across the teams, and commit to training and match days across the season. Training: Mondays, 8pm-10pm at Ravelin Sports Centre Fixtures: Wednesday afternoons, (times and locations vary) Main Responsibilities Lead on the delivery of the club’s pre-season programme Collaborate with the student club committee to deliver trials at the start of the season Lead on the planning, delivery and evaluation of weekly training sessions, focusing on technical and tactical elements specific to the relevant teams Select the relevant match day squads, communicating with players and team captains Attend fixtures and manage the match day squads Attend club committee meetings where relevant Promote the club’s philosophy to all members Adhere to the University’s Code of Conduct Criteria Essential: England Netball Level 2 coaching qualification Essential: Excellent organisation skills Essential: Excellent communication skills Desirable: England Netball Level 3 coaching qualification (or working towards) Desirable: An understanding of netball in the higher education sector
