About this Job 

The National Officer’s role is to undertake national negotiations with employers, employer bodies and government; provide advice and guidance to the union including regions, branches and the lay member structures; provide leadership support and guidance to regions and branches; respond to government consultations and legislation; and represent UNISON on outside bodies including government.

This is a specialist negotiating and organising National Officer post, focusing on pay equality. The post holder is the lead national officer on issues relating to equal pay, job evaluation, pay & grading and pay equality. They conduct and support major and complex national negotiations, and advise colleagues involved in negotiations at all levels of the union. They carry out detailed and complex analysis, develop policy on pay equality for the union and advocate for it outside the union. They develop and deliver training.
