Museum of Somerset Visitor Welcome Space and Shop Detailed Design and Installation
An experienced museum/ heritage visitor attraction shop designer & installer is required to undertake the detailed technical design, fabrication, construction and installation of a revitalised visitor welcome and retail space at the Museum of Somerset (RIBA stages 4-7). The work is part of the Trust’s Chew Valley Hoard project, which is being principally funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF). Installation is to take place in January 2027 whilst the museum is closed to the public.
Tenders are invited from suitably skilled and qualified retail space design and installation contractors who can demonstrate:
- Substantial experience of working on similar projects and of project managing and contract administering the manufacture and installation of visitor welcome and retail spaces at museums and heritage visitor attractions.
- Experience of designing and installing retail spaces within sensitive listed buildings and a sound understanding of the working practices and methodologies needed to comply with listed building and Scheduled Ancient Monument requirements.
- Experience of collaborating effectively with retail strategy/merchandising consultants on the design and delivery of museum/ heritage retail installations.
