Job Description

Post Title: Mosaic Cleaner

Reports to: Curator of Archaeology

Job outline:

•  To ensure the cleanliness of Fishbourne Roman Palace’s unique and extensive

collection of in-situ Roman mosaics.

•  To follow established protocols developed to keep the mosaics safe and to
ensure their longevity as well as maximize their physical appearance.

•  To document cleaning activities as required.
•  To communicate effectively with team members, flagging any issues or concerns

and to report on progress.

•  To undertake any other duties reasonably required.

Hours: 3.5 hours per week, flexible (by agreement)
Contract: Casual
Work location: Fishbourne Roman Palace

Good communication skills within the
team and with the visiting public
An interest in archaeology, especially
Roman archaeology.

Please note: The work requires long periods of kneeling (appropriate PPE will be
supplied), climbing over barriers and stepping up and down significant distances to and
from the archaeological layers.

No Experience is necessary. Full training will be provided.
