Brentwood Senior School is an academically selective HMC co-educational independent school with small class sizes and a happy, ambitious and supportive staff team. It is part of Brentwood School, a 3-18 HMC school of 1900 pupils, just 35 minutes from London Liverpool Street.

We are seeking to appoint a Modern Foreign Languages Assistant (Italian) to support GCSE and IB students with oral exam preparation. This part-time role (0.10 FTE, 3.67 hours per week, term-time only) requires a strong understanding of exam specifications, particularly speaking components, grammar, and vocabulary. Hours will be agreed with the Head of Italian.

You will work with GCSE pupils in small groups and IB students individually, developing conversational Italian, preparing role-play and picture tasks, and supporting structured responses. The role requires providing clear, constructive feedback and maintaining a strong commitment to each student’s progress and confidence in spoken Italian.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and contribute to a positive, collaborative environment. You will use authentic materials and current affairs to enrich learning, follow departmental schemes of work, and liaise regularly with teaching staff to support student development and coordinate conversation sessions.
