Mission Community Administrator for the Crediton and Upper Creedy Valley Churches
Are you passionate about making a difference to the spiritual life of our rural parishes? We’re looking for someone to join our new team of lay and ordained clergy to support the administrative and operational work our parish churches in Mid Devon.
We are looking for an organised and reliable individual dedicated to supporting the mission and ministry of our team of licensed and commissioned leaders through comprehensive administrative and operational assistance.
In this position, you will be working alongside an existing Parish Administrator for Holy Cross Church, Crediton. You will provide vital, ongoing support to our ministers, enabling them to focus on their core ministry, and support the great work of our parish churches.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Duties
● Prepare invoices in relation to weddings, funerals, and copier charges, and ensure funds are collected.
● Manage the finances of the mission group, encompassing clergy and team expenses, as well as fees for weddings and funerals.
Event & Service Coordination
● Liaise with funeral directors, churchwardens, and ministers to arrange funerals and the interment of ashes, ensuring the maintenance of appropriate records.
● Engage priests, choirs, ringers, etc., in respect of weddings at the direction of the Team Vicar, and notify the reading of banns to churchwardens.
● Help in the planning of services throughout the MC.
● Produce service rotas, attend service planning meetings, and engage visiting ministers.
● Arrange training events as directed by the Team Vicar.
● Source materials for home groups, Lent courses, etc., as appropriate.
Communications & Digital Management
● Produce rotas, templates, service sheets, monthly newsletters, church and parish magazines, and notices as directed.
● Update on a regular basis the Team Ministry website, the “A Church Near You” website, and shared Google calendars.
● Develop and maintain a social media presence.
● Manage the online recording of copyrighted material using the relevant programme.
Safeguarding & Recruitment Support
● Aid Parochial Church Councils (PCCs) in the safer recruitment process for relevant church appointments.
● Maintain a central list of safeguarding training and DBS clearance in liaison with churchwardens.
● Perform DBS identity checks, enter them on the thirtyone:eight system, and undertake the necessary training to do this.
General Administration
● Produce agendas and minutes as required.
● Maintain a Key Register on behalf of the Team Vicar and Mission Community.
● Manage the copier, which includes ensuring all stocks are maintained.
● Maintain records in relation to General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
● Attend meetings and training sessions at the direction of the Team Vicar.
● Undertake other reasonable duties from time to time as required.
Working Conditions & Equipment
While hybrid working is an option for this role, the main place of work will be the St Boniface Centre in Crediton, and equipment will be situated there. A dedicated laptop will be provided for the new administrator to carry out their duties.
