Salary: £33,501 per annum
Hours: Full Time - 37.5 hours per week

Location: Worthing (Mainly based at The Gateway, Durrington and occasionally at Methold House in central Worthing)
Holiday Entitlement: 25 days per year rising to 27 days after 2 years

Overview:
West Sussex Mind is now part of the Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams, as a result of the transformation of community mental health services, in response to the NHS Long Term Plan. Local services across Sussex have come together, including mental health, partners from social care, primary care and voluntary community and social enterprise services (VCSE), to establish Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams (NMHTs).
We’ve got an exciting opportunity within the Worthing NMHT here at West Sussex Mind, as we’re looking for an experienced and passionate professional to help continue the development of our Worthing services, which supports individuals and carers experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Worthing service manager to be involved in the management of the service and continued development of the Worthing NMHT – whilst also supporting individuals with their mental health and empowering their recovery.
About the role
As a Deputy Manager, you’ll be offering daily support and guidance to our Mental Health Workers, along with facilitating team meetings and providing regular supervision. Ensuring the service is delivered in a compassionate, safe and effective way that reflects the values of West Sussex Mind.
You’ll also be responsible for developing and delivering the mental health support in Worthing. You’ll provide leadership for the service, whilst working closely with service manager and other colleagues from the NMHT.
This role is building based at The Gateway in Durrington and also includes the occasional Tuesday at Methold House in central Worthing and working an occasional Wednesday from 11am-7pm.
About you
We are looking for someone with experience working in mental health, with experience of supervision or management.
You will be confident in developing and leading projects, building strong partnerships, and turning ideas into effective plans that create real impact for families.
You will also bring:
- Strong organisational, administrative and planning skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and complex situations
- Experience supporting, training and developing employees and volunteers
- A commitment to empowering individuals and promoting peer support
A qualification in project management or a related professional field (such as social work, mental health support or counselling) would be desirable.
Project aims
The Worthing Pathfinder team aims to:
- Increase individuals confidence, knowledge and skills in managing their own mental health
- Support individuals with their own wellbeing and resilience in a time limited way, whilst focusing on a personalised support plan.
- Signpost individuals to other sources of support in the community for ongoing support
- Create opportunities for individuals to give and receive peer support.
