The Media Manager role reports to the Head of Public Engagement and sits within the Public Engagement team.

This department is responsible for Mind's media, social media, celebrity, and influencer relations work which supports the organisations' goals across Social Impact and Income Generation.

In your role you will line manage a team of four, including three senior media officers and one assistant.

The post holder will have the following accountabilities: 

  • Leadership:Lead the development and delivery of integrated media strategies and campaigns that support Mind's overall objectives – including its campaigning and influencing work, fundraising, and promoting its services. Motivate and develop team members to deliver high-impact media work, ensuring professional growth and high performance.
  • Equity and Culture:Champion diversity and inclusion in all media work, ensuring representation from people with lived experience of mental health problems and from diverse backgrounds that reflect Mind's equity priority groups. Embed Mind's values and anti-racist commitments in team culture and approach tomedia work.
  • Relationships:Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, mediapartners, and internal stakeholders to secure coverage that forms part of fundraising supporter journeys and influences public and political discourse on mental health. Collaborate effectively across communications teams, with internal stakeholders and external partners, including corporate partners, donors and local Minds.
  • Digital and Data Leadership:Adopt a digital-first approach to media and PRactivities, prioritising podcasts, and other digital channels to reach target audiences. Monitor and evaluate the impact of media campaigns using data and insights to inform future strategies and align with the overarching audience strategy.
  • Budget and Delivery Oversight:Use budgets for media campaigns and team activities effectively, ensuring impact and value for money.
  • Ambassadorial Leadership:Act as a credible spokesperson for Mind in mediainterviews and at external events. Represent Mind's media function internally and externally, promoting the organisation's reputation and strategic priorities.
  • Risk and Governance:Lead reputational risk and crisis management as appropriate, including horizon scanning for potential issues and developing response plans. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, safeguarding, and data protection in all media activities.
  • Other Duties:Deputise for the Head of Public Engagement as required. Participate in out-of-hours media rota and undertake any other duties in line withthe role, including occasional travel.
