As part of the Skills Academy within Kibble, we do more than maintain cars, we help young people build their futures. We are the leading provider of care and education for children and young people at risk across the UK. Many of the young people we support have faced challenges in life, but with the right training and encouragement, they can thrive.

That’s where you come in, as a Mechanic Youth Trainer, you’ll use your mechanical skills to service and repair vehicles, while also passing on your knowledge to the next generation. You’ll be part of our Skills Academy team, supporting young people to gain hands-on experience, develop confidence, and work towards brighter futures.

What you’ll do

  • Carry out servicing and repairs to MOT standard.
  • Diagnose faults, perform maintenance, and keep vehicles road-ready.
  • Oversee a valeting service and support insurance claims/estimates.
  • Work with external customers, ensuring great service.
  • Teach and mentor young people in mechanics, helping them learn by doing.
  • Model positive work standards, teamwork, and safety.

What we’re looking for

  • Qualified mechanic (minimum SVQ 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent)
  • least 5 years’ hands-on experience across all aspects of repair
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostics, repair and maintenance (electrical skills an advantage)
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics
  • Experience of working with young people (or the enthusiasm and patience to learn)
  • Great communicator who can engage, motivate, and inspire
  • Full UK driving licence

Safe Crisis Training (SCM)

Successful candidates will require a level of fitness to be able to carry out SCM. Please see note section below (4) for further information.

  • The successful candidate will be required to undertake Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training and will require a level of fitness to be able to carry out SCM. The successful candidate must be able to participate fully in this training and be prepared to put this training into practice. The SCM training will consist of two days theory and two days physical training. The successful candidate must complete this training in full within four weeks of an agreed start date. Should the candidate for any reason fail any aspect of the SCM training (theory, physical or both parts), an additional two weeks will be given to pass.
  • Appointments will be subject to a twelve-month probationary period.
