Forum Cinema are seeking a Marketing & Programming Assistant.
You will be responsible for the general marketing of the cinema and its programme and assist in larger marketing campaigns to develop new audiences and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities;
- Create imaginative and brand-appropriate content to promote events and engage audiences.
- Liaise with external suppliers to arrange timely delivery of content and maintain the smooth flow of cinema operations.
- Build and maintain relationships with community members, potential partners and press.
- Work to identify potential audience growth and engage new audiences through tailored communication and outreach and leading marketing campaigns to build visitor numbers.
- Social media and newsletter copywriting.
- Assist the Programming and Marketing Manager in delivering a curated and diverse cinema programme.
- Support the planning, marketing and delivery of additional programmes including large scale events such as our annual Tyne Valley Film Festival.
- Managing and promoting private hire events such as parties and fundraisers.
- To complete statutory and job enhancing CPD as decided with the cinema manager and programming and marketing manager.
- To do other tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Cinema Manager and/or the Head of Programming and Marketing.
Essential skills:
- Demonstrable strong interest in and knowledge of films and current UK releases (demonstrated in Cover letter, CV and interview)
- Recent qualification and / or recent experience of marketing (demonstrated in CV)
- Ability to design and deliver marketing campaigns: which will include, but is not limited to, the design and production of posters, fliers and brochures, word of mouth campaigning and other creative means (demonstrated in cover letter and presentation)
- Digital Marketing – able to create and schedule social media ads – paid and unpaid, to promote our programme of events and the cinema generally, and manage all communications, across Facebook and Instagram. Competency across these platforms is essential with a view to growing effective social media reach.
- Literacy and ability to write and send engaging emails to large numbers of recipients on our email list, you will need some basic knowledge of GDPR to do this legally. (demonstrated in cover letter, presentation, interview and if you are able to share links to work you have done online that is available to public view, please include this in either your CV or cover letter)
- Design – An eye for graphic design and experience of using Canva (Demonstrated in CV, cover letter and interview)
- Analysis – practical understanding of Wix, Google Analytics and Meta business suite (demonstrated in CV, cover letter and interview)
- Ability to form good working relationships with stakeholders – including but not limited to; press, community groups, film clubs, arts venues, schools, board members, cultural network members (demonstrated in interview)
- A flexible and creative attitude to marketing and programming (demonstrated in presentation)
- Personal skills required are; creativity, sound problem-solving skills, a professional team player, excellent communication skills, good organisational skills. A good attitude to learning and CPD and a willingness to embrace new opportunities. (demonstrated in cover letter, CV, interview and presentation).
Desirable skills:
- Experience in or willingness to learn digital cinema projection.
- Good strategy and negotiation skills.
- Confidence to lead film introductions and Q&As.
- Be familiar and comfortable with photography and videography equipment.
This is a permanent contract subject to the successful completion of a three-month probation period. This role relies on the team being present to work together, so working from home will not be acceptable. The ways in which the 24 hours are deployed will be negotiable but should be worked over 3 or 4 days, regularly each week.
