Marketing, Photography & Film Officer (Freelance)
Fee: £8,620 (fixed project fee)
Contract Period: August 2026 – March 2027
Location: Cardiff and surrounding areas, with some flexible/home-based working
About the Role
We are seeking a creative and skilled Marketing, Photography & Film Officer to support the delivery and promotion of an exciting community dance project running from August 2026 to March 2027.
This freelance role combines digital marketing, photography, and videography, helping to tell the story of the project, celebrate participant achievements, and capture its impact. Working closely with project staff, artists, participants, and partners, you will create engaging content for audiences, stakeholders, and funders, while documenting the project's journey from start to finish.
The fee covers delivery of marketing, photography and film outputs across the project period. Working patterns are flexible and will be agreed with the successful freelancer, with activity expected to increase around key project milestones, events, and performances.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing and Communications
- Create and schedule engaging content across social media platforms.
- Support media and press activity, including drafting content and liaising with local media where required.
- Coordinate the design, production, and distribution of printed promotional materials.
- Produce content for blogs, newsletters, websites, and project communications.
- Work collaboratively with project partners to maximise audience reach and engagement.
Photography
- Capture high-quality photographs of workshops, rehearsals, events, and performances.
- Produce images suitable for social media, marketing campaigns, websites, press releases, and evaluation reports.
- Ensure photography is inclusive, respectful, and accurately reflects participant experiences and project values.
- Organise and maintain image libraries for project use.
Film and Content Creation
- Capture video footage throughout the project, including workshops, interviews, rehearsals, and performances.
- Create short-form video content for social media and promotional purposes.
- Edit and produce a final project film showcasing the project's journey, impact, and participant stories.
- Work collaboratively with project staff and participants to develop compelling visual narratives.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience in digital marketing, communications, content creation, or audience engagement.
- Professional photography and/or videography experience.
- Strong editing skills and experience using relevant creative software.
- Excellent written and visual communication skills.
- The ability to tell compelling stories through images, film, and digital content.
- Experience working in arts, community, cultural, education, or participatory settings.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A collaborative, flexible, and proactive approach.
- The ability to work sensitively with diverse participants and communities.
Desirable
- Experience documenting community arts or participatory projects.
- Knowledge of social media analytics and audience development.
- Experience producing content for funders, stakeholders, or evaluation purposes.
- Understanding of accessibility and inclusive communication practices.
