Job Title: Marketing & Communications Officer

Report to: Managing Director

Work alongside: Marketing & Digital Officer

Work closely with: Artistic, Academy & Hires Teams

Purpose of Role: Responsible for coordinating communications, content and brand messaging across Theatre Peckham and Canada Water Theatre. The role focuses on content creation, PR support and engagement, ensuring a clear and consistent voice across all activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Storytelling & Content Development

Contribute to and maintain narratives across both venues for productions, Academy activity, hires and community programmes.

Work with internal teams to develop compelling editorial content for blogs, newsletters, case studies and impact storytelling.

Support the documentation and communication of events, performances and organisational activity.

Website Content & Editorial Accuracy

Write, edit and maintain all website copy for Theatre Peckham and Canada Water Theatre, ensuring clarity, accuracy and consistency of tone of voice.

Deliver and update editorial content for pages including shows, events, Academy activity, hires and organisational information.

Ensure all website content reflects approved communications messaging and brand identity.

• Work with the Marketing & Digital Officer to ensure content is correctly published and displayed on the website.

Physical Marketing Displays

• Ensure physical print marketing material is kept visible and up to date on-site across both venues

Facilitate the sharing of print marketing materials at targeted events e.g. community days and Academy classes

• Coordinate and update the Theatre Peckham foyer digital screen to ensure content is current and relevant.

PR & External Communications

• Support press and media activity, including drafting/editing press releases and coordinating assets.

Support relationships with local and arts press, partners and stakeholders through regular communications and information sharing.

Monitor media coverage and produce summaries and insights reports.

Collaboration & Brand Alignment

Work closely with the Marketing & Digital Officer to ensure consistency across all digital and offline communications.

Contribute to audience insight gathering through qualitative feedback and narrative analysis.

• Support organisational events, launches, press nights and other activity across both venues.

Ensure all communications activity involving personal information complies with GDPR and organisational data protection policies.

Box Office Listings & Event Set-Up

Input and maintain accurate event information for listings in the ticketing system (Ticketsolve), ensuring consistency with approved communications copy.

Ensure event descriptions, imagery and public-facing information are accurate, on-brand and aligned with campaign messaging.

Liaise with the Marketing & Digital Officer to ensure smooth transition from event creation to digital promotion and ticket sales.

Print, Production & Communications Budget Support

Support the planning and coordination of print and production requirements for marketing and communications materials across both venues.

Work within agreed budgets for print and communications production, ensuring cost-effective delivery of materials.

Liaise with suppliers where required (e.g. printers, freelancers, photographers) in line with organisational procurement processes.

Track and record communications-related production costs and provide information to support budget monitoring.

Person Specification

• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with strong attention to tone and detail.

Experience producing communications for multiple audiences and platforms.

Ability to translate artistic and community work into engaging storytelling.

Understanding of PR, media relations or communications planning.

Highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple deadlines across two venues.

Strong interpersonal skills and confident collaboration across teams.

Interest in theatre, youth arts, community engagement and cultural storytelling.

General

• Advocate for Theatre Peckham’s reputation and activities both within Theatre Peckham and in the wider arts community.

• Undertake other duties as may be required.

Terms:

This is a full-time position at 35 hours per week (excluding unpaid breaks)

Normal working hours for this role are 10am-6pm, (including a 1 hour unpaid break per day), Monday-Friday.

Salary: £26,936 per annum (London Living Wage)

Annual leave entitlement:

All entitlements are exclusive of the standard 8 bank holidays in any year.

23 days on joining

24 days after 2 years of service

25 days after 3 years of service

26 days after 4 years of service

28 days after 5 years of service

These figures reflect the full-time annual leave entitlement. If you work part-time and/or start or finish your employment part-way through an annual leave year (1st April to 31st March, inclusive), your entitlement will be pro-rated accordingly.

Festive Period Leave

All employees will be required to take a maximum of three days of annual leave to cover all working days between 27th - 31st December each year.

The successful candidate will be expected to apply for an enhanced DBS check or hold a valid enhanced DBS certificate granted in the past 6 months.

SHORTLISTING

Shortlisting will take place soon as possible after the closing date, and within two weeks of the submission date. This process is always carried out by at least two people. If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to interview via email.
