Working Hours & Location
This role follows 37 hours, Monday to Friday working pattern. The vacancy will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required.
Role Overview
The Marketing Automation Executive supports both the Fundraising Strategy team and the wider organisation. This role focuses on delivering high-quality supporter journeys and stewardship through Marketo, our marketing automation platform. A key part of the role is understanding and effectively using our CRM data, ensuring all communications and data management activities are fully GDPR compliant.
The position involves turning ideas and briefs into fully developed, operational campaigns and programmes. This includes shaping concepts and approaches, as well as hands-on building and configuration to deliver impactful messaging—such as campaigns around Winter Storms—to our supporters.
Key Responsibilities
- Build Marketo email campaign programmes to enable the Trust to deliver targeted communications to our large database.
- Build smart campaigns for selection and processing of contacts.
- Manage system smart lists in Marketo.
- Build reporting for analysing email campaigns.
- Input and provide content insights for emails.
- Advise on and build new segmentations.
- Support, design and deliver email testing plans.
- Send out fast-turnaround email communications (reputational and appeals).
- Deliver email marketing support to wider teams.
- Work with the digital content team, the fundraising team and volunteering team to continuously test and learn our evolving user to supporter model.
- Produce and share a monthly user to supporter reports that demonstrates how we are testing customer journeys for our connected supporters to achieve: passive support (voice) donations (money) or volunteering hours (time)
- Work with our digital and marketing agencies and the marketing executive to produce a collective report that showcases customer reach, customer engagements, customer connections and customer conversions for current and cumulative activity.
- Work with the content team to test and learn and demonstrate the implementation and tracking of dynamic, personalised or localised content.
- Work with our email platform and other marketing platforms to produce safe data handling and smart segmentation.
- Assist in any required CRM / external system integrations needed for data processing and dynamic marketing.
About you
You’re a data-driven marketer with hands-on experience in marketing automation and CRM systems (ideally Marketo). You excel at building targeted email campaigns, managing segmentation, and using insights to optimise performance.
Analytical yet creative, you’re confident in testing, reporting, and improving user journeys, with a strong understanding of GDPR and data best practices.
Highly organised and collaborative, you thrive working across teams and agencies to deliver impactful, personalised campaigns that drive engagement, donations, and volunteer action.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
- Experience working with data
- CRM Experience (e.g Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, etc)
- Understanding of Email Marketing
- Awareness of Marketing Automation
- Awareness of GDPR
Desirable:
- Understanding of Marketing Automation
- Knowledge of Marketo
- Marketing-related degree or qualification desirable
- Comprehensive experience of running and reporting on successful email marketing programmes
- Strong understanding of DPA, GDPR and other relevant data protection legislation
- Understanding and ability to read, write and analysis google analytics
- Excellent understanding of user experience and other optimisation techniques
- Experience of project management tools; such as basecamp and trello.
- Experience in drawing insights on content and audiences.
- Experience in conversion rate optimisation techniques
- Experience with audience segmentation, tailored customer journeys
- Good critical thinking and very strong attention to detail
