World Bicycle Relief uses an innovative business model to create sustainable bicycle ecosystems. Through World Bicycle Relief's 501(c)3, we provide transport solutions to those who cannot afford them, and through Buffalo Bicycle Ltd, we sell the rugged Buffalo Bicycle and spare parts. Buffalo Bicycle Ltd also offers users repair and maintenance services via a retail network of shops and local mechanics. World Bicycle Relief has distributed over 1,000,000 fit-for-purpose bicycles and trained 4,000+ community-based mechanics. Girls with Buffalo Bicycles are 19% less likely to drop out of school; business owners see 53% more revenue; and health workers serve 63% more households.
Purpose of the Position
The Marketing & Engagement Manager is responsible for leading and optimising digital marketing, communications, supporter engagement and donor stewardship activities across World Bicycle Relief Australia.
This hands-on role combines strategic campaign planning with high-quality execution across digital channels including email, social media, peer-to-peer fundraising, content creation, events marketing and donor engagement. The Specialist ensures integrated, data-driven campaigns that grow awareness, strengthen supporter relationships and deliver strong fundraising outcomes.
Working closely with the global communications team, corporate partners and internal stakeholders, this role plays a critical part in supporter acquisition, retention, stewardship and revenue growth.
Job Responsibilities
Digital Campaign Management
- Lead the execution and optimisation of integrated digital campaigns including Community Fundraising, Buffalo Ride, Pedal to Empower, Tax Appeal and End of Year Appeal.
- Support and deliver corporate and partner digital marketing campaigns.
- Manage the integrated marketing calendar aligned with the global communications plan.
- Monitor performance and improve campaign effectiveness through data insights and testing.
Email & CRM Marketing
- Develop and manage EDM, post and SMS campaigns and automated supporter journeys via HubSpot.
- Segment databases and optimise performance to improve engagement, conversion and retention.
- Maintain CRM data integrity in Salesforce in collaboration with the broader team.
- Support donor reporting and fundraising performance analysis
Social Media & Content
- Develop and manage engaging social media content across Meta and X.
- Create or oversee the production of compelling campaign collateral including appeal mail packs, digital assets and Annual Report.
- Contribute to storytelling that connects supporters to impact.
Peer-to-Peer & Fundraising Platforms
- Manage peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns via Raisely.
- Support optimisation of supporter experience across digital touchpoints.
Reporting & Media Support
- Deliver monthly digital performance reporting using HubSpot, Google Analytics and Meta insights.
- Prepare campaign performance and media coverage reports.
- Support media releases and PR opportunities as required.
Supporter Experience
- Lead and optimise the donor stewardship journey across digital and offline touchpoints.
- Oversee and improve the donor thank-you process, including personalised communications and recognition initiatives.
- Develop automated and personalised post-donation journeys within HubSpot.
- Ensure timely and professional management of supporter communications channels (shared inboxes, donation enquiries, general enquiries).
- Maintain CRM data integrity in Salesforce and ensure accurate donor records, segmentation and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve donor retention, upgrade and reactivation strategies through data insights.
- Collaborate with the Managing Director on major donor communications and tailored stewardship initiatives as required.
Events & Community Activities
- Lead digital marketing strategy and execution for virtual and in-person events (e.g. Buffalo Ride, community events, corporate activations).
- Manage event marketing timelines including campaign pages, EDMs, paid and organic social content.
- Oversee peer-to-peer fundraising platforms (Raisely), ensuring optimal supporter experience and revenue performance.
- Support event logistics in collaboration with external partners, volunteers and internal stakeholders.
- Develop post-event stewardship journeys and impact communications to maximise retention.
- Track and report on event campaign performance, registrations and revenue outcomes.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years’ experience in digital marketing, communications or fundraising.
- Proven experience managing multi-channel digital campaigns end-to-end.
- Experience with HubSpot (or similar CRM/ESP).
- Experience managing Meta platforms and creating social content.
- Strong copywriting and storytelling skills.
- Experience with Google Analytics and digital reporting.
- Experience with Salesforce (desirable).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines.
- Desirable graphic design capability (Adobe InDesign, Canva).
- Positive, proactive and curious mindset with the ability to collaborate across a global team.
