Male Support Line Workers
ARCH Teesside is looking for two males who are skilled, passionate, and professional and hold interest in joining the Support Line Workers (SLW) team.
This is a fantastic new opportunity for males to join our established and respected, Support Line team, in partnership with Rape Crisis England and Wales (RCEW) as part of the evolution and progression of the service. We are seeking male applicants who will share our feminist values; your contribution will support our commitment to gender equality and inclusive practice.
ARCH is working in partnership with RCEW to deliver a 24-hour, 365-day, Support Line for survivors of sexual violence. The service provides high-quality, trauma-informed telephone and web-chat support and signposting information to survivors of non-recent and recent sexual violence across England and Wales.
We are looking for men with excellent communication skills and the ability to provide non-judgemental, non-directive and empowering support to every person who connects to the Support Line. Successful candidates will have experience in providing emotional support on a helpline, a good knowledge and understanding of sexual violence and its impacts and a willingness to work shifts covering daytimes, evenings and weekends, including public holidays.
Initially, telephone delivery is required, with a view to expand training in web-chat delivery as part of the advancement of the service, should this be assessed as a service requirement.
The post is open to male applicants only as being male is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010 for this role.
If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please contact Vikki Sousa to arrange this. An application pack can be sent to those interested in the role.
Vikki (Support Line Co-ordinator) can be contacted on: 07925 355473 or: v.sousa@archteesside.org.
Please submit your completed application form and Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form to: v.sousa@archteesside.org with ‘Male Support Line Worker Application’ as the subject line.
We will assess applications on a rolling basis and encourage interested applicants to apply as soon as possible.
Further Details: Closing date: 20th July 2026. Interview times to be confirmed (however, we reserve the right to close recruitment sooner should the required number of vacancies be filled). Interviews may take place face-to-face or via Zoom.
Only successful candidates will be contacted.
