JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am an adult with diagnosed ADHD and dyspraxia, alongside physical health conditions and emotional regulation difficulties. I am a caring, kind, and generous person, but I struggle with reading and writing, organisation, routines, managing money, and communicating clearly when I am distressed or overwhelmed.

At present, I rely heavily on family support to manage many aspects of my daily life. I am seeking a Male Personal Assistant to support me in becoming more independent. I believe having a positive male role model would be a valuable and encouraging influence.

PURPOSE OF JOB

To support me to live independently and safely in my own home and community by providing practical, emotional, and organisational support.

The role will help me manage daily living tasks, routines, appointments, medication, finances, and emotional wellbeing and promoting independence at a pace that works for me.

PLACE OF WORK

At my home and out in the local community such as shops, appointments and activities.

HOURS OF WORK

4.5 hours per week.

Times and days to be discussed during interview.

RATE OF PAY

£14.80 per hour.

TASKS INVOLVED

  • Encouraging and supporting personal hygiene, laundry, and household tasks.
  • Supporting me to keep my home clean, safe and organised.
  • Helping me develop simple routines for daily living.
  • Supporting food shopping and meal planning.
  • Helping me choose foods I am able to prepare.
  • Checking food dates and encouraging healthier eating.
  • Reminding me to take medication at set times.
  • Supporting me with prescription collection and pharmacy communication.
  • Helping me attend and prepare for medical appointments.
  • Supporting me with budgeting and safer money management.
  • Helping me understand spending and bills.
  • Encouraging me with the use of bank card rather than cash where appropriate.
  • Providing calm reassurance when I am anxious, overwhelmed, or distressed.
  • Supporting me when communication becomes difficult.
  • Helping me de-escalate situations using patience and understanding.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Someone who has experience in supporting adults with ADHD.
  • Someone who has experience in support work or social care.
  • Someone who is calm, patient, reliable, and non-judgemental.
  • Someone who has an understanding of emotional regulation difficulties.
  • Someone who is able to communicate clearly and simply.
  • Someone who is consistent and emotionally resilient.
  • Someone who is respectful of boundaries while being caring and supportive.
  • Someone who has an understanding of electronic devices, for example, Alexa or Google as I will require support to set this up to prompt me with medication reminders (the Personal Assistant will be supported by a digital technology team to set this up).
