The role is for a 37.5 hours per week working on a rota basis. Shift patterns are: Monday to Friday either 7.00am – 3.00pm, 8.00am - 4.00pm or 10.00am – 6.00pm, plus on call rota.
Main priorities are to ensure that St Helena grounds, buildings and equipment are maintained properly and safely to agreed standards thorough a range of general maintenance.
To ensure that the Learning & Development Centre and research centre are prepared for internal & external parties to use daily. To assist in the provision of an efficient maintenance & portering service to St Helena, ensuring the security of the buildings & safety of patients, staff and volunteers.

1. A proactive problem solver
Someone who can quickly identify faults, find practical solutions, and take pride in resolving issues efficiently and safely.
2. A broad range of practical maintenance skills
Experience across general building maintenance such as basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, decoration, and minor repairs.
3. A positive and adaptable attitude
Comfortable working across a variety of tasks and locations, responding flexibly to changing priorities and unexpected maintenance needs.
4. Strong communication and teamwork
Able to work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, volunteers, and clinical teams, providing a helpful and professional service.
5. Sensitivity to the hospice environment
An understanding that our work takes place in a caring clinical setting, requiring professionalism, discretion, and respect for patients, families, and staff.
Driving Licence essential

Processing fees
CloseWhen you make a donation to St Helena Hospice, we are charged transactional fees by other companies, including fees for processing payments made to us, looking up addresses and validating bank account details.
We are very grateful to our donors who offer to offset some of these fees with a minor addition to their total amount. This is however completely optional and we are very grateful for your support whether or not you choose to contribute to processing fees.
