Temporary Maintenance Person Job Description

Contract: Temporary (2–3 months)
Start Date: Immediate
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Hourly Rate: £7.55 – £12.21 (rate increases from 1st April)

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and practical Maintenance Person to join our team on a temporary
basis to support a range of essential improvement and maintenance projects across our animal
sanctuary. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys varied work, working outdoors,
and contributing to a meaningful cause.

You will play an important part in helping us maintain and improve our facilities to ensure a safe,
functional, and enriching environment for our rescued animals, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

●  Assisting with the construction and improvement of animal enclosures
●  Fencing installation, repairs, and maintenance
●  Creating, improving, and repairing pathways around the sanctuary
●  Carrying out general building, repair, and maintenance works
●  Working safely and responsibly around animals, staff, volunteers, and the public
●  Supporting wider site improvement projects as required

About You

●  Previous experience in building, maintenance, fencing, or general construction work
●  Practical, hands-on, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
●  Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
●  Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious

●  A positive attitude and willingness to support a charity environment
●  Experience working on similar sites (farms, sanctuaries, parks, estates) is desirable but

not essential
