This vacancy is for an Apprentice Maintenance Engineer (Mechatronics) based in Bolton. Mechatronics Maintenance Technicians ensure that plant and equipment perform to the required standard to facilitate production targets regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost within High Value Manufacturing environments.
We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer Apprentice to join the small engineering team supporting our factory.
Contribute to breakdown and maintenance cover across BIM UK Ltd factory. Working to avoid and prevent machine failure during the production shift. Respond to health and safety repairs as a matter of urgency, ensuring equipment is maintained and safe for other staff. Carry out preventive maintenance tasks scheduled to required standard Conduct periodic machine observation identifying potential failure or deterioration. Report potential failure or performance deterioration to engineering and production Manager on issue, cause and possible fix. Complete agreed remedial work Use knowledge of failure history to identify problematic parts. Prevent losses (equipment damage), accidents or injuries by correct maintenance of equipment Conduct machine observation during the shift, identifying potential safety risks. Conduct risk assessment prior to any maintenance work and ensure conclusions are implemented prior to start of work to remove hazards Ensure equipment is handed back to production in 100% safe condition Be aware of incident reports and work with operational managers to prevent re-occurrence. Complete corrective actions during shift to return equipment to standard output, quality and waste levels Respond immediately to equipment failures Agree effective solution to the fault with senior engineers Effect the solution, and report on nature of fault, cause and solution via computerised maintenance system. Identify parts needed and arrange with engineering staff to order for these when needed
Identify, recommend and implement machinery improvements Regularly observe the operation of all equipment Identify wear and tear. Suggest solutions to reduce losses / improve materials yield to the Production Manager Observe and understand non-productive activities such as hygiene cleaning. Identify opportunities to reduce the time taken for these activities.
Minimise the risk of call outs. Work with BIM's contractor procedures. Installation of new equipment and fittings as part of the engineering team, where appropriate. Help maintain the building structure and condition of the site within reason. *Other similar tasks as requested.
Training to be provided
- L2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing (Foundation Competence).
- L3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competencies) Mechatronics Maintenance Technician.
- L3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).
