We are looking for a friendly, professional and reliable Lodge Porter to join the team at St Antony’s College.

The Porters’ Lodge operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing reception, security and support services for the College. As the first point of contact for students, staff, Fellows and visitors, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming environment and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the College.

This is a full-time post averaging 41 hours per week, with a salary of £30,085 gross per year. In addition to the salary, a £21 premium is paid for each night shift worked, and overtime is paid at double the normal hourly rate.

About the role

Working as part of a team of six, you will provide information and assistance to visitors, manage enquiries and support the safe and efficient running of the College.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Welcoming visitors and providing information and assistance
  • Operating the College telephone switchboard
  • Checking in guests and processing cash and card payments
  • Receiving, sorting and distributing incoming and outgoing mail
  • Managing lost property and ensuring the safe custody of keys, cash and documents
  • Monitoring CCTV and responding to alarms and security incidents
  • Acting as a Fire Marshal and First Aider while on duty (training provided)
  • Supporting meetings and events, including basic audio-visual assistance
  • Keeping up to date with College events, conferences and activities

  • Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including nights and weekends
  • Enthusiasm for working in an international and multicultural environment

Experience in a front-of-house, reception, customer service or security role would be advantageous.
