About the role

Reporting in to the Humanitarian Lead, the Locally Led Anticipatory Action (LLAA) Coordinator will support and complement the Asia Multi-Country Cluster (MCC) Humanitarian Lead, and Locally Led Anticipatory Action Manager to actively manage an ambitious 24 month LLAA programme in Myanmar and Bangladesh that aligns with the Christian Aid locally led humanitarian approach.

The post holder will ensure Christian Aid is always employing a decolonised approach to partnership to improve locally led work and maximise impact. Acting with humility, respect, mutuality the role will build relationships, facilitate, convene and understand and employ approaches that catalyse change. They will work well with local, national and international stakeholders.

Some of the main areas of responsibility of the Locally Led Anticipatory Action (LLAA) Coordinator include:

• Continuously invest in personal and institutional technical capabilities and learning on locally led anticipatory action approaches
• Develop learning and training materials for Asia MCC staff and partners in Bangladesh and Myanmar on Christian Aid’s locally led approach to anticipatory action to support with quality, consistency and coherency with technical oversight and input from the CA LLAA Manager
• Provide or make available operational support to a dynamic portfolio of partners, using decolonised and localised approaches that support them in their work and foster a mindset of connection and enhance collaboration
• Providing training and mentoring to MCC and partner staff, building relationships based on trust and openness and striving to maximise impact
• Collaborate and contribute to global discussions to advocate for and share learnings about locally led anticipatory action, including with donors, peer agencies, supporters, ACT Alliance, DEC to support with a culture of continuous learning
• Identify, develop, collect and disseminate best practice and learning from Asia MCCs locally led anticipatory action pilots to support with knowledge sharing

About you

Who we are looking for

Essential:

• Demonstrable experience in anticipatory action, locally led approaches, and inclusion in humanitarian programmes.
• Significant experience in facilitating capacity building of partners and country teams.
• Significant experience in designing and delivering training, mentoring and providing technical support.
• Demonstrable experience of working with people and communities in three humanitarian contexts of which two should be in a FCAS.
• Understanding of partnership approaches and experience of working with local partners.
• Understanding of humanitarian principles and international standards including SPHERE, the Red Cross Code of Conduct for NGOs working in emergencies, and the Core Humanitarian Standards.
• Highly developed communications skills, both written and spoken to a variety of audiences.
• Highly developed ability to write clear, concise reports.
• Highly developed ability to build effective working relationships across organisations.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, motivate and inspire others to take up new challenges.

Desirable:

• Educated to degree level, ideally in development studies, disaster risk reduction, anticipatory action, or humanitarian response
